It seems like I was just at the pool...

It seems like I was just at the pool in July writing a President's Message dreaming of when the snow would come. Well, the season has come and gone in a wink of an eye. Our club had quite a few days on the hills and we were blessed with full busses and plenty of white fluffy stuff to play with.

As I look around at the meetings and on the bus trips, there are a lot of new faces along with the seasoned veterans. As our club ages, the seasoned veterans are showing off their love of the sport by example. Personally, as I grow older, every day on the mountain is special and my addiction to the sport grows deeper. I am not the crazy hot dog I was in my youth, but the learned skills of carving that perfect turn still makes my heart flutter. As I look at the new people, I can see that twinkle in their eye that I had. I cannot be more proud to see our club grow with a new generation of ski enthusiasts.

Well, the season is closing and the banquet is around the corner. My term as your President is also coming to a close. Being your President was an honor, a privilege, and a blast. My goals were few: keep the traditions of WASC, not lose members while gaining new ones, and have the most enjoyable ski vacations possible.

I personally want to thank my executive council; Joe Tag, Carolyn Titz, Kathy Wolder, and Deena Altman. Without their help and commitment, nothing would have been accomplished. To all the committee chairs, their helpers, and bus leaders, GREAT JOB!

I congratulate Mark Mintz and the entire executive council on their election and wish all a successful season.

Our winter season is over but summer fun is around the corner. I plan to join Joe and Mary Ellen on lots of hikes. If you would like to do something special this summer, let Mary Ellen know so she can plan events.

   Have a great summer.
