so please come to the summer meetings
to keep in touch.
As you all know my last
message was about Trips and Membership,
and to go along with this please read
the below email message to see how we
as a council are working on this.
A joint meeting of area
ski clubs was held on April 30th, 2001
at Rosina's in
Bound Brook hosted by Franklin Greens
Ski Plus Club. Also in attendance were
members of Sitzmark Ski Club, Mid Jersey
Ski Club, Somerville Ski Club and
Watchung Amateur Ski Club.
The purpose of this meeting
was to encourage discussion among the
clubs
regarding the possibility of sponsoring
joint events such as ski trips and
other mutually beneficial and agreed
upon activities.
Franklin Greens Ski Plus
Club found it necessary to cancel a
New Year's
Quebec trip this year.
Sitzmark Ski Club with
approximately 90 members has noted a
reduction in
attendance for weekend ski trips and
there was no club trip out west this
year. Sitzmark does rent a lodge in
Vermont.
Somerville Ski Club (approximately
36 members) has not been able to fill
some
vacancies at a Bed-and-Breakfast that
sleeps 15 for $42.50 a weekend, and
it
includes two breakfasts and one dinner.
Weekends are available Christmas week
through April 1st.
Mid Jersey Ski Club with
about 90 members has had space available
at their
Wallingford lodge in Vermont
($18 members, $28 guests per night).
Watchung Amateur Ski Club
would like to be able to fill a bus
to run more
Sunday trips to Hunter and Belleayre.
With better rates are
available for larger groups, attendees
suggested
integrating events calendars, adding
an inter-club column to each newsletter,
and adding hyperlinks to each club's
WebPages.
Also discussed was making
a club member of any one of the participating
clubs, an associate member of the other
four clubs. Joyce Connelly from
Franklin Greens agreed to draw up an
Associate Membership form.
Management of trip comps
will be based on the initiating club's
policies and
guidelines.
Suggested joint
activities include:
Open house/season kick-off event
in November
Game Day
Holiday Party
Inter-club columns in newsletters
Franklin Greens Picnic on June
23rd.
The next joint meeting
for club Presidents, Trip Coordinators
